The cover song in my opinion can be likened to a fine art-difficult to master but exceptional when accomplished. On the latest war child compilation appropriately entitled Heroes, there certainly isn't a lacking of fine art . The charitable LP compilation priced at 10 dollars across the board (itunes etc ) is definitely worth the money as it offers a fresh spin on some timeless classics . Standout tracks include Beck's cover of leopard skin pill-box hat , Tv on the Radio doing heroes and surprisingly Franz Ferdinand covering Call me . One song I purposely left out of that list is the Elbow cover of U2's absolutely phenomenal Running to stand still. The words U2 and awesome rarely go together nowadays however the track is so sparce it almost forces the words down your throat-all at once reminding the world that Bono is one of the greatest songwriters of our time .
